Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for the RNIP program, you must:

  • Possess qualifying work experience or have graduated from a publicly funded post-secondary institution in a participating community
  • Meet language proficiency requirements (CLB/NCLC based on job category)
  • Meet educational criteria
  • Prove sufficient financial resources to support your transition
  • Demonstrate intent to reside in the community
  • Satisfy community-specific conditions
  • Hold valid temporary resident status (if applying from within Canada)

International Student Exemptions:

You may be exempt from the work experience requirement if you’re an international graduate:

1. Graduates of a 2-Year Post-Secondary Program

You must have:

  • Studied full-time throughout the program
  • Graduated within 18 months of applying
  • Resided in the community for at least 16 of the last 24 months

2. Holders of a Master’s Degree or Higher

You must have:

  • Studied full-time for the duration
  • Graduated within 18 months of applying
  • Lived in the community throughout your studies

Ineligible credentials:
You cannot apply as an international student if:

  • More than 50% of your program was in English/French language instruction
  • More than 50% of your program was distance learning
  • You received a scholarship/fellowship that requires return to your home country

Language Requirements Based on NOC Category:

  • NOC 0 & A: CLB/NCLC 6
  • NOC B: CLB/NCLC 5
  • NOC C & D: CLB/NCLC 4

Language test results must be from a designated testing organization and less than two years old.
