Book your Road Test Early

Booking a driving exam can feel confusing if you’re not sure what’s required or how the process works. At Acorn Drivers Academy, our goal is to make this step simple and clear so you can focus on preparing for your test with confidence.

Whether you’re preparing for your G2 or G road test, knowing exactly what to provide and how to choose your test details can save time and prevent delays.

What You Need to Book a Road Test

Before you schedule your road test in Ontario, make sure you have the following details ready. Having everything prepared in advance helps you complete the booking quickly and avoids last-minute issues.

1. Valid Ontario Driver’s Licence Number

You must provide your current Ontario driver’s licence number when booking. This confirms your eligibility and links your test appointment to your driving record.

2. Preferred Test Location

Choose the location where you would like to take your road test. It’s a good idea to select a center you’re familiar with, especially if you’ve practiced driving in that area.

3. Second and Third Location Choices

Sometimes your first choice may not have available time slots. Adding backup locations increases your chances of getting a convenient appointment without long wait times.

4. Preferred Date and Time

Pick a date and time that works for you. Many learners prefer mid-morning or early afternoon slots when traffic conditions are more predictable.

How Acorn Drivers Academy Helps You Prepare

Booking your test is only one part of the process. Preparing properly is what truly makes a difference. Acorn Drivers Academy supports learners at every stage with structured driving lessons designed to build confidence behind the wheel.

Lessons are available throughout Scarborough, Toronto, and York Region, making it easy to find training close to home.

Why Preparation Matters Before Booking

Many learners rush into booking their exam without enough practice. This often leads to rebooking, added costs, and frustration.

Instead, it’s smarter to:

Practice consistently in different traffic conditions.
Get familiar with common test routes.
Work on parking, lane changes, and turning techniques.
Understand examiner expectations.

Taking the time to prepare properly increases your chances of passing on the first attempt.

Choosing the Right Test Location

Not all road test centers are the same. Some areas have heavier traffic, more complex intersections, or different road layouts.

Here are a few tips when selecting your location:

Choose a center near where you’ve practiced.
Avoid unfamiliar areas unless you’ve trained there.
Consider traffic patterns at your chosen time.
Ask your instructor for recommendations.

Acorn Drivers Academy instructors are familiar with multiple test routes across Scarborough, Toronto, and York Region and can guide you toward a suitable location.

Picking the Right Time for Your Test

Timing can affect your test experience more than you might expect.

Morning Slots

Roads are usually calmer after rush hour.
You feel more alert and focused.

Afternoon Slots

Traffic is steady but manageable.
Good for those who prefer extra practice earlier in the day

Try to avoid peak rush hours unless you are confident you can handle heavy traffic.

Combining Lessons with Your Road Test Plan

A smart approach is to align your lessons with your test booking timeline.

For example:

Start lessons several weeks before your planned test date.
Increase practice frequency as your test approaches.
Take a pre-test session to fine-tune your skills.

This approach ensures you are fully prepared when test day arrives.

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Booking

Many learners make simple mistakes that can delay their test or affect their performance:

Booking too early without enough practice.
Choosing a location they’ve never driven in.
Picking inconvenient times that cause stress.
Forgetting required details during booking.

Avoiding these issues makes the entire process smoother and less stressful.
